Helpful Resources for Your Small Business During Covid-19

Recession, economic downturn, dishonest partnership, or industry shakeout are all events that can put your business to the test. Surviving in hard times requires determination and never-say-quit attitude. But in today’s swift and merciless marketplace.

Having many small business restaurants as partners and personal places we love to dine, we want to see you succeed. Here are some resources to help your small business stay strong during trying times:

  1. The National Restaurant Association always offers an array of advice and assistance. 

  2. The National Health Services Corp provides up-to-date information and news updates.

  3. San Francisco Health Service System offers bay area and local information multiple times a day.  

  4. Restaurant Workers Community Foundation: They are a nationwide community dedicated to making the restaurant industry more hospitable to everyone.

  5. California Restaurant Association: This site provides emergency assistance for restaurant workers.

  6. Enroll in a Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) program to make it easier to find information national and internationally during times of emergency.

  7. A group of restaurant industry professionals has created a site aggregate of restaurants offering “dining bonds”. These bonds work like savings bonds that can be purchased at a lower rate and redeemed for a higher rate in the future.

  8. Media outlets such as Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, Life and Thyme, and The Counter are sharing perspectives, insights, and advice from chefs and restaurants around the country as they adapt to life under the pandemic.

  9. Alinea Group shared their wide-ranging response, including hygiene protocols, booking and customer service practices, and modifications to employee scheduling and benefits, and more.

  10. OpenTable collected guidelines and advice from communications experts on how to talk to your customers, as well as suggestions from restaurant-owning users on how their businesses are handling COVID-19.

  11. The Centers for Disease Control is updating a state-by-state list of COVID-19 testing centers and labs.

  12. Spill the Dish has created a database of resources (non-profit funds, government agencies, changed laws, even GoFundMe's), searchable by state and type of relief.

  13. Cherry Bombe has a growing list of national resources organized by geographic area.

  14. Food + Tech Connect has created a spreadsheet tracking resources, advocacy groups, funding sources, and charities.

  15. Restaurant Workers' Community Foundation is updating a list of resources and relief funds.

  16. Another Round Another Rally is offering grants and accepting donations to help affected food service workers.

  17. The Loan Forgiveness Program provides up to $10 million in a forgivable loan to cover payroll and other expenses.
